Consistent, High Quality Brewing For the home

“So easy, your kid can do it”

For this page, we are using the equipment in the list below. It is what owners Tony & Becky use daily in their home. There are plenty of other brewers, but please note that NOT ALL brewers are the same. (See SCA Approved List Here)

Note about how much coffee to use…

Every brewer is different, so it will take some quick measurements to find the right amount for your machine. This is how we found 45 grams of coffee was the right amount for our machine.

Steps

  1. Weigh how much water it takes to fill your brewer to the desired line. In our case, the 5 cup line weighed about 750 grams.

  2. Divide that weight by 16. (1:16 is the magic coffee ratio that gives you a good starting point). In our case, 750 grams / 16 gives us 46.875 grams, which we round to 45 grams to make it easier to remember.

  3. That number is a good starting point for how many grams of coffee to start with. Experiment from there… a little more…. a little less…. find the right amount for your taste buds.

*The best part of waking up… is having a 9 year old who knows how to fill the coffee pot to the 5 cup line, weigh 45 grams of coffee, and press the brew button :)
