Small Business, Big Impact

In Charlotte, we kind of have a thing for the Western side of the state. Whether your love is based on family, friends, refreshing getaways, or your alma mater, our connections to the wild and wonderful NC mountain lands are strong and personal. Watching the region experience the trauma of the recent hurricane and floods, has us aching for the people, land, and livelihoods affected.

But a bright spot amongst the heaviness is the outpouring of support from small businesses in North Carolina. From donating a percentage of sales to organizing fundraising events, our small businesses across the state are showing a true spirit of compassion and their strength in unity. I wanted to take a moment to shout out some of the amazing things our small and local businesses are doing, giving you a wider scope of how incredible your favorite restaurants, bakeries, breweries, and retail shops really are. As you support these places, you are supporting endeavors that are so much bigger than a cup of coffee, or a box of pastries! Thank you for valuing the bigger picture- the humans behind the daily consumption experiences are stronger for it. 🫶

Here are (minimally-I know there are SO many more inspiring happenings at hand) some of the incredible businesses that are rallying to support our WNC neighbors:

  • Noda Brewing - Canning water like crazy since 9/30! They have partnered with other breweries and local companies to transport these directly-

  • Batchmaker: gave portions of all of their Pumpkin Coffee Cake Sales donated (totalling $2500, then another business added $2500, then another added $1000, then another $500) –What an incredible display of small business support!

  • Honeybear Bake Shop: The whole month of October, they continue to donate 100% of sales of one item on the website per week– PLUS their sale of over 100 pumpkin pastry boxes sold to benefit victims!

  • Enderly Coffee: In our café, we have purchased enough Summit coffee to get us through a few weeks. Swing through and drink some Summit. (you can also order coffee directly from their website to support!)

  • Hex Coffee: created an Asheville roast where sales support the Asheville community

  • Glory Days Apparel: created a “Carolina Strong” design where 100% of proceeds will go to NC Disaster Relief Support

Supply Drives held at:

Plus MANY, many more! Donate goods. Donate finances. Donate your time. Support the businesses that you are able to. Every little bit makes a difference, and we are so glad you are a part of that!
